Rice with vermicelli 


This rice dish is delicious served with different curries/sauces, grilled fish, chicken etc.  But i love to eat it simply with yogurt.  


Ingredients
1 cup of basmati rice
1/2 cup of crushed vermicelli
butter/oil to fry
salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)


Method
Heat the butter and oil.  Add the vermicelli and fry till the vermicelli turns a dark/golden colour.  Now add the rice and fry for a few seconds.  Add about 2 cups of water and the salt.  Bring to the boil and cover.  Turn onto a low heat and cook till the rice has absorbed all the water.  Turn off the heat and let the rice stand for about 5-10 minutes.  Serve with yogurt.  Delicious!
